Will prednisone unclog my ears and let me hear?????????????????!
Question: I went to the doctor for the third time todya over an ear infection. they did a hearing test and determined my hearing was very very poor due to pressure and clogging of my ear. I was an a low dose of methylprednisone and levaquin. the infection was much better but still am deaf in left ear. he gave me 10 mg prednisone. i take like 6 a day and then step down to lower doses. will this really work? He was going to do a myringotomy but since I had tubes when I was a kid and there was already a lot of scarring he decided against this. Just looking for some re-assuring that this may actually work. I'm so miserable due to this condition.

Prednisone causes the body to not react to infections and allergies. I've had it twice for allergies and I felt great on it! You will probably feel a lot better and have more energy. There is a good chance it will take down the swelling in your ear canal and give your inner ear a chance to drain.
As you decrease the dosage you will notice that you are a little tired as your body adjusts. That is common.

Prednisone can be used for many different things. Your best bet is to check online for the common uses of prednisone but also ask your Pharmacist.
If you don't trust your doctor's opinion, ask for a second opinion too. Its your ears and your hearing, do some research to find out whatever you can.
Hello. It must be so tough on you but you have to keep trying everything you can. I am not going to lie to you and say yes it will work as no one knows that. You have to think well if it works least i will hear again and if it does not keep trying other things. Never give up ok. I know i could not say yes or no but i just wanted to wish you the best.
