If someone has insulin resistance does this always lead to diabetes?!

Question: Not always, but for most people who are over the age of 25, insulin resistance is usually a good indicator that you are at risk for diabetes as an adult.

Insulin resistance usually occurs in people who are overweight, hypertensive, and high cholesterol. Some times, as with my good friend, it is hereditary and has nothing to do with body make up.

I am "type one" and I am insulin resistant due to weight and number of years with the disease, so you can have both. Either way, you really need to watch what you eat.

no excess weight can lead to diabetes and if you have insulin resistence it's time to see the doctor because this is serious.

Yes, it is an early indication of Type 2 Diabetes. Diet changes and exercise can help but chances are good it will eventually require medication and/or insulin injections in the future. Get with a good MD who can help you understand and manage the condition.
