Anybody else ever wake up with a big uvula?!

Question: finally figured it out on my own-(after being told it's tonsilitis, that i have to get my tonsils and adenoids taken out, etc.)----apparently, if u wake up every once in a while with that little punching bag thing in the back of ur throat swollen, tender, it's usually from breathing with your mouth open while u sleep, an allergic reaction, irritation from acid reflux while u slept, or a strange position u slept in that irritated it. Anybody else have this happen to them every once in a while?

I myself have a tight little esophagus.

No but I once had it sucked up in the suction hose by a dental assistant and that was not fun! I didn't know what the name of that thing was...I just call it the hangy-down thing in my throat. But thanks for the info! :)

Can't say that I have noticed this. That would be annoying to say the least.

Yea the tonsilitus makes your whole throat swell up.

I already had the same exact operation your about to have. As a suggestion, make sure you eat or drink something with your medicine because its very easy to get an ulcer.

I had gotten an ulcer and I was admitted to the hospital for 3 days.

Also just try to sleep as much as you can. That way your body can heal faster and it makes time go by quicker.

it happen to lots of people

I haven't had it happen to me, but if my hubby drinks too much his swells up and hangs down, he can actually get it to lay up on his tounge, Ew gross huh? I tease him about it, it's very funny. His never gets sore and hurts though, sorry that happens to you.

Condition where growths form on the glands at the back of the throat where the passages from the nose join the throat , which prevent the patient breathing through the nose. Also enlargement of the adenoids block the nasal passages. And hence the surgery is recommended.
