Why is there a shortage of potassium and magnesium in a cancer patient?!

Question: Why would they be missing these nutrients and me not? What steals these nutrients from them? What am I doing that keeps these nutrients in me that they are not doing? I eat wide varieties of fruits and vegetables, skins, hydes and all, nuts, meats with skins and some bone and bone marrow, etc. Is that the difference?
