Answers: Most of the Teens in the U.S.A suffer some kind of type of diabetes...

Hey that is true! I got it when I was 6 and there are millions of kids with it. (type one that is) I think that it is unfair that we have to live with it and go through different everyday routines than everybody else. I am used to it now but, if I ever have a kid and they got it too, it would break my heart to give a child a shot.

Where did you get that info? That is simply not true. While many teens in the US are overweight, they don't have diabetes (at least not yet).
Very interesting how you pulled that out of your rear though.

It's an epidemic. It's caused by bad diet, especially high-fructose corn syrup.

Go to http://www.wholepurefood.com and watch "How to get fat without really trying" and it will tell you about this phenomenon and how you should be eating eat to prevent this illness that never existed in young people before the past century, and especially the last 20 years.

if what you see is true - not saying you are right so what is the question and where do you get your statistics from

How in the world are you getting your information? And please don't lump Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics together.... Type 1 is an autoimmune problem that has nothing with being overweight. The predominant form of diabetes in youngsters is Type 1 or what used to be known as Juvenile diabetes. People still don't really know what causes it but it is no fault of the person who has it. Please read something credible before stating such an idiotic statement.

I doubt that is true.
Can you list your sources ?

I'm going to assume you're referring to type 2. Usually type 2 is what adults get and more children are getting it because of being overweight and eating unhealthy.
That said, MOST children who have diabetes have type 1 and it has NOTHING to do with being overweight.
I have 2 daughters who have type 1. My 8 yr old is actually UNDERWEIGHT! She's only 45LB! And my 4yr old is 40 LB.
As for the ones getting type 2, it is pretty much the same reason that adults get type 2. Sedentary life, not eating healthy foods.
But anyway, your question is too generalized, not specific and lumping all diabetics into 1 category which is not correct.
Do some research.

Your statement is misleading. What you probably read is that Type II diabetes (adult onset) is becoming more common in teens, especially those who are grossly overweight. A previous responder implicated high fructose corn syrup, and there may be an element of truth to that.

So what I think is that many of us, but young people especially, have to change our lifestyles in order to maintain a more ideal weight and body mass index.

Many schools have already instituted healthier choices for school lunches, and have removed some of the soda vending machines. Greater emphasis is being put on phys- ed.

Yes its a worldwide epidemic and is going to cost the health authorities billions in years to come with no cure yet in the foreseeable future.

where do these teens live? I'd sure like to meet some! I'm 19 and have been a type 1 diabetic since the age of 15 and have yet to meet another teen with diabetes (type 1 or type 2).
