Killing germs on jeans?!

Question: They had diarrhea on them, then got handwashed, and left wet next to a heater in a bag for 2 weeks, then machine washed twice, then we're going to disenfect them overnight in the sink with disenfectant, then will machine wash twice and spray with dettol anti bacterial spray.
Will this be enough to make the jeans germ free? Or what else do I need to do?

good grief! the jeans are fine!

I know that bleach will kill the germs but thats the only thing i know that can help, since im sure you dont want to incinerate them =P

No amount of regular washing will make something totally germ free--but what you have done or will do sounds appropriate.
The key to killing germs is high temperature. So if you did not wash the jeans in high temperature water with detergent you may wish to consider that. The jeans may shrink some depending on the fabric type.

If any germs survived all that you're going to need a baseball bat to kill them off.

They do have bleach alternatives. I'm not sure if they're potent enough as the regular stuff. Try something like Clorox2. Apparently it's for colors. Try using it first on something you wouldn't mind giving up. If it works on that, then try it on the jeans. It should be safe for them. If you can't find clorox2, there should be other brands for colors

Just wash them once. What you're doing is silly. Do you also sanitize bus/restaurant seats before you sit? Do you sanitize dogs or cats before they rub against you? Almost everything you touch on a daily basis has germs on it, and a little secret for you. You know the baby seat thingy where you put your bread in a shopping cart? A high percentage of those have traces of fecal matter on them from babies. Where do you think the babies poop?

So a little poo on your jeans won't hurt you once it has been cleaned off.

Wash them separately in hot water and dry on high heat. That's all.

I know you said you don't want to, but I'd throw them out.

I agree with most of the other answers, the jeans are fine.

If it makes you feel better, you could wash them with some regular detergent and add some Lysol to the wash. Lysol kills everything from viruses to fungus.

Good luck, I hope you don't have to throw them out!
