Can you have arthroscopic knee surgery more than once on the same knee?!

Question: As with the majority of surgeries that are performed via scope, if the problem reoccurs, there will probably be scar tissue from this procedure. Generally, in this situation, a scope procedure cannot be repeated because of the scar tissue. Usually, this will require an incision vs. a repeat scope. Case in point, I had left rotator cuff surgery in April of 2007 via scope. I did great up during the initial 6 months. However, I completely re-tore ( full thickness tear) my rotator cuff. Because of the scar tissue, my repeat surgery ( and I'm a leftie), will require a 4-5 inch incision. But, it would be best that your options, be discussed with your surgeon. I hope that this is helpful and Good Luck !! Knee surgery can be quite painful and requires alot of Physical Therapy.
