How do u lower your blood pressure naturally? I'm under 30 with a rising blo!

Question: High blood pressure is defined as a systolic blood pressure >139 (the upper number) or a diastolic blood pressure >89 (the lower number). For diabetics, the cutoff is lowered to 129/79.

Several disorders may cause high blood pressure. By far, the most common cause is essential hypertension. Other reasons include as mood disorders, obstructive sleep apnea, renal artery stenosis, endocrine disorders, and more. Even if your blood pressure is "normal" at age 55, you still have a 90% chance of developing high blood pressure in your lifetime.

There are several ways to reduce your blood pressure safely without resorting to medicines. None of them are easy. Weight loss, physical exercise, avoiding too much caffeine, quitting smoking and alcohol, and lowering your salt intake have all been proven to help lower blood pressure. However, if your blood pressure is >20 above the limits on at least 2 occasions, your doctor may recommend you start a medicine while changing your lifestyle at the same time.

Please note that there is little-to-no evidence to support claims that certain herbs may help reduce blood pressure "naturally" . If you do decide to start taking herbal medications, be sure to inform your doctor to avoid possible drug-herb interactions.

Many remarkable healing properties are attributed to the organic loose leaf variety of stinging nettle. The leaf is utilized for different problems than the root. The leaf is used as a diuretic, for arthritis, prostatitis, rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, high blood pressure and allergic rhinitis.

Go to the healthfood store and buy yourself some organic loose leaf nettle leaves and brew them up into an herbal tea ........ you only need a couple of teaspoons per pot of hot water and when the pot is finished the spent leaves can usually be resused a couple of times as the essential oils in organic tea leaves are so potent. Don't buy teabags as the essential oils have been pulverised to within an inch of their lives and can never possibly be used for therapeutic purposes.

Although they say that preventing is by far better than curing, one still has to cope with the problems of high blood pressure when faced with them. The following are a set of suggestions applicable to both the suffering and the healthy person in order to lower the blood pressure in your body. Merely natural principles that go with any medicine your doctor prescribes.

* Anyone who is seeking to lower his blood pressure should first consider stopping smoking. The craving for nicotine can be reduced by eating sunflower seeds, and nettle and oat infusion is also widely recognized as a great help. You should also try to quit smoking not all of a sudden, but do it gradually, in the course of 4 to 6 weeks.

* Another good way to lower blood pressure is to consume a lot of seaweeds. They are great because of their special property to lower the blood pressure by leveling the concentration of triglycerides, phospholipids and colesterols. In addition to this, seaweeds contain substances that dissolve the 'fatty build-ups' on the blood vessels, helping to create a steady heart beat.

* Beta-caroteins do miracles when it comes to cutting the risk of a stroke attack, so foods with a high concentration of such compounds should definitely be part of your regular diet. Some of the most common examples are carrots, cabbage, dark leafy greens, apricots, winter squash and sweet potatoes. Natural food does play an important role in lowering blood pressure.

* Garlic is yet another remedy Mother Nature offers, very beneficial for lowering the blood pressure. In addition to its other good effects on health, studies state that garlic has the abilities to reduce phospholipids and cholesterol, increasing immunity of the organism and reducing chances of strokes. So, the advice is to eat several garlic cloves a day, raw or lightly cooked for lowering blood pressure

*Choosing food low in salts and sodium is crucial for lowering blood pressure. Most Americans today are accustomed to highly salted food when in fact the dosage recommended is an average of 2.5 grams of sodium per day. This roughly equals 6 grams of table salt, almost a teaspoon. Consume more freshly prepared foods ..........:0)

I'm 25 and I have high blood pressure. Exclude anything with caffeine in your diet. No energy drinks. Also when you get a cold don' t certain cold meds. The only cold/flu med i take is Coricidin. Lower your salt intake. Get your normal hours of sleep. If it's ok with your hypertension specialist, more active lifestyle such as running and cycling.

It depends on what is making your BP go up in the first place. If your weight is increasing (as is often the case once you hit 30), then, you need to pay close attention to your diet and just eat healthier. No magic, just make good choices and get plenty of water each day. If you are super-stressed, try to make sure you exercise. It sounds cliche, but it works...even if it is just taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
When I turned 30, I started eating right and my blood pressure went through the roof. It took a lot of research and trying different things, but I figured out that SPLENDA caused my BP to rise. Later, I found out that a major hospital in my state quit using it with their patients b/c of the same reason. It sounds crazy, but if I use even a small amount of it, my blood pressure will rise several points.
If it still is high, see if your doctor recommends medication. Better to be safe than sorry!

Cut back on your sodium intake. Use salt free spices, check the labels of food for the sodium content. Making sure it is less than 10% per food item. Keep away from cold cuts and other meats processed with sodium nitrates and other sodium ingredients. Lower your caffeine intake also.

Not knowing your physical condition, check with your doctor to find out what is the safest amount of sodium you should have.

Eat more protein and less carbohydrates. Eat a lot of fiber that is found in whole grain foods and fruits and vegetables.
Drink lots of water and eliminate sugary drinks.

You may want to start taking iodine supplements as well.
Currently you are probably getting this important nutrient in salt.

If you are a smoker, try quitting the habit, also eliminate alcoholic beverages.

Last but not least, exercise.Check with your doctor before starting any strenuous exercise.

One more thing, if you check your own blood pressure at machines that are found in stores, or have your own bp machine, you will not get a correct reading if you have been physically active just before checking your blood pressure. Wait at least one-half hour and take two readings to see if they are near the same.

Forget all the hype about herbals/super remedies and other crap! Take control of your life....start out by loosing weight via exercise, avoid canned or fast foods (salt & fat), stop eating the candies and junk foods, eat fresh veggies/fruits, drink lots of water and keep a positive attitude. Check your BP each morning and afternoon...if you don't know how...find out how!...keep record. Good luck!

You dont state your height or weight. If you are overweight get the fat off and keep it off.

Dont exercise without the concent of a Cartiologist. A rise in blood pressure can be the result of a bad valve inside the heart and that can further damage the heart. You will need not and EKG to determine this but an Echogram in a Cartiologists office.

Once you have been given a clean bill of health on your heart's health, then exercise will defentely lower the hearts rate an blood pressure. Remember, good athletics have a heart beat of no more than 50 BPM .

In the mean time, dont damage your heart, get on a blood pressure medication and get the pressure down immediately. You can damage heart arteries, valves and muscle by waiting to lower blood pressure and looking for some natural way to lower the BP.

You might be one of those whose family history is that of High BP. If you are, no amount of natural herbs or any sort of weight loss will do much. If you are, you need a cartiologists help to get it down and as one respondent says above take charge. Buy a BP machine take it daily write it down, good or bad. A doctor cannot properly medicate you. You need data on BP, lots of it to properly medicate yourself and get the right dosage figured out. Take it from me, ive done it and have that kind of family history of high BP. None of that so called herbs did anything except empty my wallet. Good Luck.

Do NOT do anything with "natural" meds until you have the cause of the increasing blood pressure diagnosed. Just because the meds are natural doesn't mean they are safe! I had a patient that took 23 herbals and would not stop. She had bad kidneys and some of these were making them worse...she ended up dying. Find out why this is happening first.
Of course it is always ok to watch the sodium intake, eat healthier, take walks, watch the caffeine intake, don't take decongestants, etc.
Please see your doctor!
