People that cut themselves with knives have to get tetanus shots?!

Question: You could be in the garden working in the dirt, out fishing, what ever, if there is a break in the skin, it can become contaminated.

Tetanus shots are good for 10 years, then you get a booster, its no big deal IF you've had the shot.

I just got my 5 or 6 a few months ago.

Yes! as a precaution. Especially when using rusty, don't-know-where-did-that-came-from knives. Hope you're not doing this kind of stuff. Well, all the same, good luck!

1 you should already have tetanus shot
2 you should not be cutting yourself

no not true, it only depends if the object that pierced the skin was rusty, if it was then you get the tetanus shot.

yes in addition to seeing a therapist to stop they should also get a tetanus shut to insure they have not developed infections.

The guidelines we follow are:
1. Tetnus shot every 10 years
2. If you sustain a wound and it has been less than 5 years you are fine
3. If you sustain a wound and it has been 5 years or more, you get a tetnus shot
It is far better to be safe than sorry especially with this deadly disease that is so preventable.

any break of the skin should have a tetanus booster every 5 years...any break can allow spores into the blood...
