How long does the norovirus last?!
Question: My boyfriend has been sick with it for about week now. He hasnt had the runs though. How long does it last for?
I havent actually seen him be sick since Friday although he claims he has been. My patience is wearing thin as he's just lazing around and sleeping all the time while I run around looking after the kids. I myself have had a chest infection (I'm asthmatic) and had the runs today but havent had time to feel sorry for myself.
So, I thought I'd check how long it's supposed to last as he claims '2 weeks' I dont think I could stand it for another week!!

Symptoms last between 12-60 hours...I've never known it last a week. If he is still genuinely unwell then he needs to see his Dr, otherwise he needs to get off his backside and give you a hand.
Look after yourself, make sure you are drinking plenty if you have diarrhoea...warm drinks are best if you are 'chesty' as warm fluids help relax the airway and loosen any mucous.

Norovirus is active for up to 72 hours only
Initially 24 hours, but then one remains very contagious for a further 48 hours and can be re-infected by one's partner who has caught it off him!
