Threatening to sack him even though hes got sicknote?!

Question: my fiance is a bus driver he has been with his company for only 3 months, but has always worked.
he has been to the doctors a few times about his back, but it was only about 3 weeks ago the doctors listened and checked, his spine has a curve and they suspect it is cuveture of the spine, he has to go for scan beginning of feb to see if it is, if it is that the doctor has told him he may need correction surgery or an intense course of physio.
He has handed in his sicknote but his work has been very unsupportive, even asking him to not take his medication and go back to work, also his medication makes him drowsy so he can not drive, the doctor has advised my fiance to look for another job that does not involve driving which he is doing, can they sack him though? as they have already told him they have to let them go. please help.

Apparently your boy friend doesn't have a union or representation? right? I was a union rep for years, this is what he has to do.
If he's on meds that are detrimental to driving and, they insist he drives, both he and, the company, or the super, are committing a crime.

I would take the letter, anything from the company and see the state unemployment office. They have state reps that can and, will help.
You can also call the local ACLU (American Liberties Union) no company wants them around. Or get a hold of OSHA in you area. Office of Safety and Health.

There are a number of doors he can open to protect himself. If he has an accident while under drugs, he's the one responsible, whomever told him to drive.
