Question about diabetes?!?!

Question: Okay well i have most symptoms of diabetes, frequent urination, excessive thirst, unexplained weight loss, i get shaky blurred vision etc.

But i heard somewhere that people have gotten diagnosed with diabetes when they got their eyes checked. Is that true?

(I have reading glasses, and i might go in to get my eyes checked again) so just wondering?

yes thats very true. i cant really explain how but diabetes can be found in your eyes but they can find glucose some kind of way. i have type 1 diabetes and i've had it for 15 years now. if those are your symptoms then you probably have it. i go get my regular check up from my endocrinologist as well as my eye doctor. i would suggest you do the same.

I have type two diabetes and it was my eye dr that was the first to say something. I was really surprised,he knows my regular dr. aand she started to do all the blood work. Now I take a pill in morning and one at night check blood every day.
Good Luck

Diabetes is diagnosed with a fasting blood sugar level. This means that a blood sample is taken after you have fasted (usually fasted overnight). An eye doctor may be able to see changes in the eye (diabetic retinopathy) that may be due to diabetes however you still need a blood test to confirm the diagnosis.

sometimes it is

Diabetes can cause blindness so it is nothing to mess with. Why are you asking here and not at your Doctors office?? Do you drink alcohol? Take drugs? The reason a good eye exam can diagnose diabetes is because it affects the blood vessels and nerves inside the eye.

well i have glasses 2 most diabetes get problems with hearin or vision so id just go in to the doctor and ask if they could check
