What can you use other than an inhaler to help with asthma?!

Question: Right now I'm using an inhaler, which both my Fiance and I don't really like me using.

I'm into natural products and I was wondering if there was something out there to help me.

The best non medication treatment for asthma is learning your asthma triggers and avoiding them. If you are unable to identify the triggers or if you can't avoid them, you will need asthma medications.

Anyone diagnosed with asthma should have a rescue inhaler with them at all times for that "just in case" moment. If you have to use the rescue inhaler more then 2 times per week, you will need a preventive medication.

You will need an asthma action plan to log your medications and know when to use them. Track your signs and symptoms as well as your peak flow readings.

Some studies show that fish oil has bronchodilating effects (opens airways) however the study gave 8-10 time the recommended amount of fish oil to the test subjects.

Caffeine drinks can have the same effect as inhalers however again, you will need many more times the recommended amount to get any results. Caffeine is in the same chemical family as some of the most popular inhalers.

No one should be limited in their daily activities because of asthma. It can be managed.

Asthma is an allergy and even though some of the usual allergens don't cause some asthma, the end result is the same. An allergic reaction to some stimuli such as stress or emotion. Mast cells will de-granulate and release inflammatory chemicals that will cause the airways to become swollen (inflamed). Then bronco-constriction will come later. So yes it is an allergic response.

If you truly have asthma, you need to have an inhaler with you at all times. A sudden asthma attack can send you to an ER with a huge bill being incurred when you might have been able to prevent it. Ways you can prevent an asthma attack - use your peak flow meter - this gives you information as to decreasing lung capacity and a possible impending asthma attack; avoid smoke at all costs, avoid areas that are very dusty; vacuum your carpets daily; avoid people who have colds; use a humidifier in the bedroom where you sleep. If you are looking for herbs, I am not aware of any that can stop asthma.

this is right up the alley for someone like you. I know first hand that it works because I have blended and given this product to asthma sufferers. not for pregnant ladies or seizure sufferers. You have to take the time but it will be worth it. Buy real unadulterated aromatherapy essential oils,Lavender, and tea tree and have some light mixing oil on hand like grapessed safflower sunflower. Into one ounce of mixing/carrier oil put 6 drops of each Lavender and tea tree. Shake it up.put a few drops on a hanky or tissue and inhale several times. or put 20 drops of the mix into a warm tub.Lavender is an anti -inflammatory,lavender and tea tree are for lung and sinus congestion and tea tree is an expectorant. I buy my oils from Camdengrey.com dont take for acute attacks, use when you are between attacks but soon the acute attacks will stop

Once you have an attack there isn't much you can do to stop it but calm down, relax, and try not to panic. Some people say that caffeine and a cold rag on the neck helps. But you have to remember that asthma is a serious and that you shouldn't refuse to use an inhaler because as of right now there isn't much else you can use. There is a new law though that says your inhalers have to be good for the ozone layer. I guess... I know that there ARE some herbal remedies for asthma, but I dont remember the name. I had a few doctors recommend them to me.
