Can you believe in Ontario that diabetics have to pay for lancettes or needles.?!

Question: The drug addicts get theirs supplied. Does this make sense?

Answers: The drug addicts get theirs supplied. Does this make sense?

We do here, as well, in the US.

Addicts can get their needles in cities that have needle-exchange programs...and not all cities have them. The needle exchange program is designed primarily to hopefully prevent addicts from sharing needles, thereby reducing the risk of contracting blood borne diseases, such as HIV and hepatitis. How successful this has been, I'm not sure.

It definitely isn't encouraging addicts to stop using drugs. I look at it as lesser and greater evil. Is better to supply the needles and hope they keep them to themselves...or are we interferring with the war on drugs? It could go either way, I suppose.

I pay for my lancets. Since I use a pump, I don't have to worry about syringes. I do have some for backup but I can buy one box at $20 and that will last me for a looooooong time. I see your point...and it is a good one. I wish I had an answer for you.

EMT

In American they have to pay for theirs as well...the drug users getting theirs does not make any sense...

yes

I thought Americans paid for theirs too! My mom sure does.

That's a very good point! Let's pretend we are addicted to insulin.
