Gluten free help?!
Question: My husband has had a stomache problem for a long time... like pain and bloating and diarrhea pretty much every day since we've been married. He has been to doctors and they never find the problem. Recently I saw a site about celiac disease and he has ALL of the symptoms that are listed there. I have completely eliminated gluten from his diet 4 days ago and........... He feels better! My question is, what tests are required to diagnose celiac, and/or a gluten allergy?

My doctor suggested I try a gluten free diet and in three days I felt better than I had in years. My mother had suffered from the same symptoms so I challenged her to go gluten free for 10 days. After 3 days she too swore off gluten. I have not been tested and she has but the blood rest came back negative. I don't care what it says we feel better and that is enough for me and her. You may feel like you must have a diagnoisis but why if he found something that works? I suggest you do lot's of research as food companies hide gluten in the most unlikely places. There are many great books. Good luck and I hope you find some one that shares this life style it will make it much easier.
U should try to find a specialist and explain everything to them and then let them run tests. Good luck!!!
There is a blood test called Ig E (Immunoglobulin) but sometimes even if it comes negative, your husband may still have celiac disease. Has to be repeated at least 2 times a year for 5 years to rule out celiac disease . Many people are celiac and don't know.Go to amazon and buy a book on this or borrow some free from your local library.
