What causes the stabbing and burning sensation in my left leg only?!
Question: I was diagnosed with type 2 diabeties 2 yrs ago, but my doctor has ruled out the diabetic nerve damage, with an EMG, it used to do it only when I would drink alcholic beverages, now it does it before bed, during time through out the day its very annoying kinda painful. Any idea's how to cope or what it could be?

Consider alcohol induced neuropathy.
(ask your doctor: I am in no way involved in the medical field... just had something like it once so it crossed my path).
Your MD may have already ruled out any type of Neuropathy with the EMG, but the following clip from WebMD indicates that alcahol in excess can cause it... (Not at all implying you are an alcoholic... more that people react differently to alcohol. I am quite sensitive, for instance).
