Puppy was wormed, and the worms are on my bed....?!

Question: My puppy decided to hop on my bed and sleep for a bit. I noticed rice-shaped worms were "leaking" out of his bum and the worms had fallen on my bedsheets. I picked the worms off one by one with the end of a needle. I'm sure I got them all off BUT, I have no idea when he started to leak these worms out. He's been all over our furniture and *could* have rubbed/dropped some worms off on rugs, couches, towels etc..

I'm assuming the worm segments just dry off and is pretty much harmless when in skin contact. Laundry is done every weekend. Should I be concerned of getting infected if maybe I just stepped on one with bare feet or skin contact?

My puppy has been wormed and is about to go another treatment this 24th.

Sounds like you are off to a good start. Get a good bacterial agent, like clorox, lysol, etc. and spray everything with a light but thorough coat.
Put puppy out of way(safely) or outside while you do this.
They are harmless unless they live and breed in your home. So make sure you kill ALL of the buggers.

wash your sheets immediately, and check any other surfaces that you may place your bare bum on, the worms are alive and like to be inside of a host so check around clean everything and use a cleaning agent on your surfaces. and for heavens sake dont let him in your bed.

As long as you're not eating them you have nothing to worry about.

You're safe! The worms are spread by ingestion. So unless you're eating the puppies fecal matter or fleas, you're in no harm of contracting the worm.

skin contact with the worms will not do anything.Only if you ingest them.It sounds like either milk worms or tapeworm. They usually die off quick and turn like a brownish color.Just wash any linens the puppy was on and vacuum up where the dog was.

hi,don't be scared, your puppy has tapeworms, and the segments are coming out.just vacuum up the pieces, they are gross, but don't make you sick.better if you deworm puppy in a months time.check the meds, if able to kill tapeworms?some medication is only effective for roundworms(the ones look like vermicelli)
