First and most importantly, see your doctor!! Let him tell you if you have strep. Do not think a home remedy will cure it...it won't! You need antibiotics, when strep goes on untreated you are putting yourself at risk for a host of problems. Untreated it can cause heart problems. Gargling with salt water is good...but if you are going to use Motrin, my suggestion is liquid Motrin and don't eat or drink anything afterwards for at least 30 min. Motrin is an analgesic and the liquid acts as a topical rather than systemic agent. Trust me, liquid is the best way to go...been there ,done that. Also, forget the dayquil....the Motrin and antibiotics are really all you need. But do see the doctor pronto!

You need antibiotics to get rid of strep throat. The only way to get them is to go to the doctor.

Untreated strep can cause serious complications: scarlet fever, rhumatic fever, and is contagious. If you actually have strep, you'll need an antibiotic.

Go get one, or you're putting others around you at risk.
