Diet advice for child with autistic behaviors?!

Question: My child is 3 and had a blood test for allergies . He is allergic to eggs, milk, wheat and beef. What kind of supplements do you recommend and will he outgrow these allergies? He has a few autistic behaviors but was not dg with autism by specialists. I assume these behaviors are because of his allergies. What have you tried with your child and worked? I heard about gfcf diet and I started to do that now but it's very hard to find products not to mention expensive. Any website that has cheaper products? Also what gfcf products can I find to Walmart?

Don't forget that there are TWO Sides to the Allergy Coin...
InHalant / Environmental AND FOOD Allergies !

Suggest IgE Blood Allergy Test for and Neutralize your Child's Environmental / InHalant ALLERGIES i.e. Pollen, animal, dust, mites etc.

While thought to be a rather common / everyday " Suggestion / Solution " in light of an Autistic Diagnosis ...

you would be surprised to know that ADHD and Autistic Kids have a High propensity for FOOD and Environmental ALLERGIES.

Given an Autistic Patient ...
suggest an Insurance covered IgE Environmental Allergy Blood Test via your Dr ...

Then begin Patient Friendly, Drug Free, Under-the-Tongue ImmunoTherapy DROPs which will Neutralize the Allergy Disease Source.

Regarding FOOD Allergy... don't forget IgE immediate AND Delayed IgG4 FOOD allergy sources...

Plus your Heavy Metals

Good Luck

It has been suggested that peptides from gluten and casein may have a role in the origins of autism and that the physiology and psychology of autism might be explained by excessive opioid activity linked to these peptides. Research has reported abnormal levels of peptides in the urine and cerebrospinal fluid of persons with autism. If this is the case, diets free of gluten or casein, or both, should reduce the symptoms associated with autism.

Gluten/casein free diet =]

hope this helps!

As stated in the first answer, the Gluten Free Casein Free (GFCF) diet is a good choice. There is not a whole lot you can get at Walmart but we have found canned organic pinto beans, canned organic green beans, canned organic carrots, organic applesauce, organic fruit juice, organic raisins, and marshmallows (not a good choice if you are watching sugar). Walmart is also starting to carry organic apples and other fresh fruits and vegetables.

Our local Kroger supermarket carries alot of items including organic fruits and vegetables, waffles, cereal, cereal bars, almond milk, rice milk, french fries, pretzels, potato chips, Laura's Lean hamburger, and many ingredients to use in cooking and baking. Yes, it is expensive to do the GFCF diet but the difference we saw in our son (he was diagnosed with PDD-NOS and he is allergic to gluten, casein, pork, soy, and bananas) has been amazing. It will take alot of hard work but your little one will feel so much better. There is also alot of GFCF recipes on www.tacanow.com and they talk about GFCF on a budget and list several websites you can shop from. Good luck.
