Can my ear get infected again?!

Question: I first got my ears pierced about 3 years ago, everything was alright until a month later when everyone stared to tell me to change the earrings I didn't want to but I didn't think one night would affect it. It didn't until a month after that when one side got infected, a week after the other side got infected. I decided to let the piercings close.
I want to get them re pierced now but the marks are still there, is there any chance they can get infected again even if i don't change the earring so soon this time?

They could, but you need to clean them better. Make sure you clean your ears at least three times a day. Make sure you have really good earrings in also. Some cheap earrings will make your ears hurt, and then be infected.
