I think I may have seizures?!

Question: I'm a nurse, so I am not totally clueless about seizures, and I am now wondering if I am experiencing them. About every 6 months or so, I get this blurry, squiggly, "thing" in my right eye's filed of vision. I can see through it most times, but today it was so bad, I could barely read with my right eye. When this vision change happens, I feel disoriented, sometimes dizzy, and just plain scared out of mind. I can tell something is happening, but I can not tell what. After about 20 minutes, it's gone. During the episode, I can talk and walk OK, and function decently. Sometimes I am more disoriented than other times. It is the strangest thing ever. I know you don't always shake with seizures. I wonder if this is a rare form of a seizure? I am going to get worked up by a neurologist as soon as I can. Anyone experience this? It scares the crap outta me!!!!

There are many different types of seizures and many of them don't include loss of all body function. Some can simply be staring off into space disoriented. My husband is epileptic and does this quite often but usually returns seconds later. If you are experiencing symptoms such as you have discussed for more than ten minutes there is definitely a problem and you need to see a doctor as soon as possible to figure out the exact cause of it and what can be done. But you're a nurse, you knew that already.

does not sound like seizures,as an uneducated guess i would say you may be hypoglycaemic.good luck

Did you ever consider to check yourself and see if it was a seizure. Stick your tongue out, does it go to one side more than the other? Smile, or can you? and if you can is it a strong smile? Can you raise both arms at the same time with no problem? If the answers to these are all no's, then it is most likely not a stroke. Have you ever considered it might be a mild migraine, or cluster migraine? You are a nurse, you should consider all the options, not just the most extreme.

yes i have .
i have what is called grand-Mal seizures .
i almost all the time see double . most of the time i have to sleep it off .
when this happens to me my balance is off and i have to have someone help me walk .no this is not rare .
i have had seizures since the age of 3 it scares me a lot also.
the Doctor is always changing my med

I had a seizure a few years ago and I blacked out, went into convulsions, and was stuck in the fetal position unable to respond to my surroundings for an hour. With that as my experience with seizures, I say no.
