I'm 31 and to my knowledge have never had chicken poxs either. The good news is that little children are now getting immunizations for chicken pox, so your chances of running into chicken pox is slim. What you get as an adult is serious, and I guess if not treated can be deadly. But, it's also very rare. It is possible you got chicken pox without any bumps, so you or your Mom wouldn't have even known.

Chicken pox is much worse as an adult. In men it can cause sterility from the very high fever. Try to avoid getting it. That's about all you can do.

If your really worried you can go and get immunised, its also good to have if you ever do work in health, as it is one of the required immunities you must have.

don't be scared, there is a vaccine now for chicken pox,i don't know how much it costs tho.BUT,i would pay for that vaccine for sure.I had chickenpox when i was 13-14,i was very sick, high fever, the tiny blisters were itchy and painful, and all over my body:in my mouth, back of throat, top of my head, inside ears, soles of my feet.took 3 weeks to recover.get the vaccination from the family doctor.

I'm a teenager too, and I've never gotten the chicken pox either! I don't think you should worry, most people get shots nowadays.

Don't panic. There's a vaccine available now. Ask your health care provider about it.

P.S. Symptoms include a low-grade fever, feelings of malaise or fatigue, dry cough, a sense of eye irriatation and the eruption, first on the trunk then on the extremities, of the characteristic 'spots' or pox/ pocks. Check out Wikipedia's information at the site below.

There is currently a vaccine for chicken pox. Even if you don't get the vaccine, your chances of being exposed to someone with chicken pox are pretty small because most people get the vaccine.
The disease you get as an adult is called herpes zoster, or "shingles." It is from the same virus that causes chicken pox, but it is a more serious disease. Still, very few people die! The good news for you is that you can ONLY get shingles if you have had the chicken pox. Better yet, there is a vaccine out for shingles that you can get as an adult. So even if you do get chicken pox, you'll never have to have Shingles.

Yes this is very true. My dad got them when he was starting college i think. and he was SO VERY SICK! He almost died. He got the pox inside of his nose, in his mouth, and even (really gross) inside his butt. You get a VERY high fever and such.

Since you havent gotten them yet, I would go and get into the doctor for the shot they can give you so that you dont catch it.

Personally I got them when I was 3 my mom made me play with kids that had chicken pox so that I would catch them and get them out of the way early. And it must not have been that bad because I dont even remember it!

yeah they are worse if your older, but you may have been vaccinated for them. its kinda rare for young healthy people to die from childhood diseases like chickenpox.
