Sexual Addiction?!

Question: I was wondering if this is an actual addiction? And if so, what are signs of the addiction? How can it be treated?

A friend of mine talks about promiscous sexual act which seem a little dangerous to me. It's like he has to have sex everyday. Any information would help.

the first one has good info on it.. O and to add to an answer below mine... doesnt matter if he likes Sadism or Masochism... Thats not a bad thing.

It's very much an addiction. Addictions are a mental thing as well as physical, and some people need sex to feel content. They have sexaholics anonymous for this very reason.

What sounds so dangerous to you? Did he tell you anything specific about what he wants to do? Is he into Sadism or Massochism? If not, and he just wants sex everyday, i'd say he's just a really horny (and normal) guy.

Yea it is actually. A friend of mine is friends with a girl like that. She has done some CRAZY **** and she still does and totally enjoys it. She has had some pretty nasty STD's as well. I am not really sure how it can be treated. Thats a good question.

Eventually sensation will dull. Too much of anything is bad.

Here is a section I copied from the website I listed below.
I hope this helps you with your friend's possible addiction.

Problematic sexual behavior does not necessarily mean that you are a sex addict. There are many other conditions and problems which can cause sexual behavior to get out of control. You might wonder if you have a sexual addiction when you actually have normal behavior. It may take some soul searching and professional help to decide if sex addiction is really the problem.

Definitions and behaviors of sexual addiction
Sexual addiction comes in many different forms. There is no single type of behavior or even amount of behavior that will indicate you are a sexual addict. The problem is much more complex than can be explained in a few words and if you have been living the life of a sex addict, you know how difficult it is to describe what you are experiencing.
Three basic things to consider when you define sexual addiction are:

Do I have a sense that I have lost control over whether or not I engage in my specific out-of-control sexual behavior?
Am I experiencing significant consequences because of my specific out-of-control sexual behavior?
Do I feel like I am constantly thinking about my specific out-of-control sexual behavior, even when I don't want to?

There is nothing wrong with having sex every day. Sex is healthy.

As for your friend, I recommend you talk to him or leave it alone. You might find talking to him will help you understand your own prejudices and personal issues. The problem might be with you. If you have concerns about your own sexual practices talk to your doctor.

Good Luck!
