Anyone got any info on celiac disease??? is it hereiditary???!

Question: Celiac Disease is hereditary. If someone in your family has celiac disease, you are at an increased risk of having it. Sometimes people are "carriers" of the genetic markers but the disease is never "turned on." Sometimes the disease is activated by some stressor (i.e. severe illness, pregnancy, stressful situation, etc.)

Here is a link to a lecture that was given at the University of California. It was posted to YouTube by the UCTV:

This is a long video but if you want to learn about Celiac Disease, it is one of the best on-line videos I've found so far.

Yes, celiac disease is hereditary. There are two genetic markers that show whether or not you are prone to getting the disease. Although, even if a person has the genetic markers they may never develop it.
