Answers: a very good friend of mine put one of these light bulbs in his bedside lamp he has developed skin cancer on that side of his face.

I have not heard that, and we have them all over the house, my dad died of melanoma. As I understood it, skin cancer is caused by exposure to UV light, and low energy bulbs do not give off UV light, your friends cancer was much more likely to be caused my sun damage. However it has been on the news that low energy bulbs do contain mercury, which shocked me, if they break you have to clean very carefully and leave the room for 15 minutes. They are going to start putting bins in supermarkets for you disguard them as they should not be thrown away with the rubbish. That shocked me. I have been using them for years and didn't know that. I hope your friend recovers quickly. Good luck

no there has never been anything said about it at least that i have heard, and i have them at my house and have for years and neither me or any of my family members have skin cancer. does you friend spend a light of time in the sun?
