Is laser hair removal safe?!

Question: Unexpectidly, my mother happened to have spotted out some hair on my chin and parts on my throat. I have noticed this aswell but haven't taken to much action into it. My mother suggested LASER HAIR REMOVAL. Now, i have never ever done this, i don't know anyone who has. To tell you the truth i am actually really really scared and i need peoples advice. The only thing im scared about is if im paying all this money and then my chin gets damaged.

Has ANYONE ever had laser hair removal especially on their chin and have they had any horrific stories. I am really scared! I may be even starting as early as tomorrow.

Please help.

Laser hair removal is generally safe, but make sure whoever performs it knows what she/he's doing.
The main drawbacks are cost (it is expensive) and in spite of what many people think, it is NOT permanent. The only permanent hair removal is electrolysis, which is also much less expensive than laser.

As with any surgical procedure, laser treatment has its pros and cons. Rather than discuss them, I don't understand why you or your mother don't simply tweeze the hairs out. I'm a guy, and have to do that for hair in certain places on my face, ears, throat and neck, that aren't safe to shave, even with an electric razor. Tweezing stings for a split second, and I've never had so much as a teeny drop of blood! However, if the hair is on or near a mole or birthmark or scar, etc, you might want to get a doctor's opinion. Furthermore, if the hair isn't noticeable from more than a foot away, I'd leave it alone for now.
