Sounds like a common cold. Try running a humidifier in your house and using a saline nasal spray. If your snot is green, then you most likely have an infection and need to see the doctor. White and yellow are not signs of an infection. If you are running a fever, you should call your doctor. Otherwise, make sure you are eating healthy foods, getting enough liquids, taking a vitamin, and getting enough rest.

Good description. It's not serious, but you need to get your nose flowing and the best tool for that is saline. You buy it in a squirt bottle at the drug store or supermarket. My personal favorite brand is AYR. Follow the directions on the bottle. You probably have a mild sinus infection or cold and this will help. Saline is a really good tool to have around. Use it over the sink because some will dribble out.

Nasal congestion can be a symptom of an upper respiratory tract infection (such as the common cold, sinusitis), allergies, or even cold-induced rhinitis. Whether the mucus is white or yellow is not particularly helpful. The blood specks are probably due to tiny nose bleeds with frequent nose blowing.

Saline nasal sprays may help with your nasal congestion. An oral decongestant such as Sudafed may be a temporary solution. For short-term relief of severe symptoms (use for <3 days), you might consider Afrin nasal spray.

If you think you may have allergies (i.e. sneezing, itchy eyes/nose/throat) you might try an over-the-counter anti-histamine such as Benadryl, Atarax, or Claritin. When you blow your nose, use only gentle pressure - trying to "clean out" your nose when it won't come may lead to nose bleeds.
