Im having my insulin pump hooked up tomarrow for the first time, does anyone hav!

Question: Don't just eat anything. The pump will help to control your sugar levels if you do, but there are consequences! I gained 20 pounds in 2 months when I got mine. It was the first time in over 20 years that I could eat.
The first few days can be really trying. There are a bunch of new things to learn, in addition to having to get used to wearing the pump all the time. Also there is the time it takes to get all the settings and levels just right. Hang in there, it is worth it in the end. I love my pump, and would never want to go back to injections now.
Good luck!

ask your doctor as many questions as possible. If your unsure ask again. no question is too silly to ask.

Don't take the pump as a free ticket to eat whenever or whatever you want. You still need to watch what you eat! My daughter got a pump about 6 months ago and it is much easier for her now (she's 15) She was able to choose from colors like pink, green and blue. I wish you the best of luck!

Welcome to the pump club!!

Listen carefully to your trainer and follow what they tell you. Learn all you can about pump therapy. Remember that a pump is not an excuse...you will still need to watch your diet, get plenty of exercise and watch your sugar. You will have to test 6-10 times a day. Accept that.

Good luck and keep us posted on how it works out for you.

Pay attention to your sugar levels this is very important! My son is a type 1 diabetic he was diagnosed a year ago(he's 17). He hates to test his sugar, but its the best way to know if the insulin and the pump is working properly. Good luck to you!

Unless you have a water proof model, Do Not Get It WET!!!, I learned that the hard way when I first got my pump, was out fishing and fell out of the canoe, and ended up needing a new pump. But other than that, don't be scared about the change to a new treatment for your diabetes, in my 3 years of being on a Paradigm 712, I have found that my life was so much easier than using injections, as you no longer have to carry around an insulin pen or syringes. Just be sure to ask a lot of questions about how to operate all the programs of your pump and on how to insert your pump site and you should be fine.

What kind of pump is it?
I have the omni-pod.
My doctor said, as long as I kept it in moderation and covered for it, I could basically eat whatever I wanted.
But, don't take that as a free ticket to load your body with sugar and carbs.
Trust me.
The other day I couldn't eat for twelve hours straight because of high blood sugars.
But anyways, having a pump isn't that hard.
