Sometimes my veins appear darker than other days...?!

Question: Every so often, the veins in my body (chest, arms, hands, etc...) appear more prominent. It happens pretty rarely, but I was wondering if anyone knows what it means. Someone once told me it meant I was dehydrated. And, no it's not different lighting. My bathroom doesn't have a window, so it's always the same lighting in there, plus when this happens, it lasts throughout the day, and even my friends and family can tell. Any idea what it means?

appears more pominent so you're talking about the physical veins and not the color? Veins will look different at all times of the day as you eat, drink, exercise, get stressed. As for color, that just depends on the amount of oxygen bound to the hemoglobin in your blood.

You should see a dermatoligist or a doctor.

its the light

Veins will shift a bit from day to day. And yes the ratio of oxygen, water, and blood stuff will change the coloring. As long as you are healthy it is nothign to be concerned with.

It depends on your body temperature and the room temperature

The answer actually is dehydration.

Take a look atbody builders. right before a competition, some go on extremely low water diets. and there veins are very promanint

Yes...it's a symptom of dehydration. The next time it happens, try drinking more water that day...you'll see that it goes away.
