Anaphylaxis describes a severe allergic reaction. An allergic reaction typically includes symptoms such as rash, itching, swelling, maybe vomiting, etc. Anaphylaxis symptoms include swelling of the airway and tongue, rapid heart rate, and low blood pressure. People with this severe of an allergy typically carry an Epi-pen, which can be used to give an injection of epinephrine at the first sign of symptoms.
I hope I've given you enough information. You can also go to www.WebMD.com and search for it. You'll find plenty of information there.
It is just a fancy word meaning a severe reaction to something a person is allergic to. Many kids are allergic to peanuts and could die if they get any type of peanut so the school doesnot want any peanuts in school.
