Conjunctival inflammation typically occurs from infection, allergy, or irritation. Symptoms are conjunctival hyperemia and ocular discharge and, depending on the etiology, discomfort and itching. Diagnosis is clinical; sometimes cultures are indicated. Treatment depends on etiology and may include topical antibiotics, antihistamines, mast cell stabilizers, and corticosteroids.
Prevention
Practicing good hygiene is the best way to control the spread of pink eye. Once the infection has been diagnosed, follow these steps:
* Don't touch your eyes with your hands.
* Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently.
* Change your towel and washcloth daily, and don't share them with others.
* Change your pillowcase often.
* Discard eye cosmetics, particularly mascara.
* Don't use anyone else's eye cosmetics or personal eye-care items.
* Follow your eye doctor's instructions on proper contact lens care.
If your child is infected, avoid close contact with other children. Many schools send children with conjunctivitis home.
Newborns' eyes are susceptible to bacteria normally present in the mother's birth canal. These bacteria cause no symptoms in the mother. In rare cases, these bacteria can cause infants to develop a serious form of conjunctivitis known as ophthalmia neonatorum, which needs treatment without delay to preserve sight. That's why shortly after birth, every newborn's eyes are protected with a preventative application of an antibiotic, such as erythromycin ointment.

Sounds like pink eye, very contagious.

I agree with it being pink eye. Pink eye is caused by fecal material getting in your eye. It can be from an animal or a person.

you should see your doctor, it looks like pink eye to me.

That is definately pink eye (conjunctivitis) and it is highly contagious. Wash your hands every chance you get, do NOT go to work, wash all the clothes you have worn since then, wash your pillow cases and sheets every night, do not let anyone touch your face and don't touch them. It will go away usually on it's own, but you may have to get an antibiotic from the doctor. No eye patches. You'll be fine in about 3 days.

It looks like pink eye hun. It is very contagious, don't rub you other eye. If you do rub your eye remember the wash your hands. Yes there is a cure hun, the doctor will give you meds for it. It's drops you put in your eye. No you don't have to wear a path. I hope this helps good luck hun.

seiously looks like pink eye. vey very contagiuos. try not to touch the other eye. wash hands thoroughly, and deffinately go see MD. An antibiotic is usually prescribed.
