Prescription acne medication?!


Question: i went to a dermtotoligst over the summer and he gave me benzaclin to apply at night and this roll on medication w/ salicylic acid for the morning.. my skin has improved a little, but not much. actually, i feel like it's getting worse. it's not huge noticeable red pimples everywhere. it's little tiny bumps, clogging almost pore on my forehead. inside, they're not really noticeable, but if i go in a bright light or in the sun, it looks terrible. can anyone recommend andy really good prescription acne medication for me

Benzaclin will work only on the red inflame pimples. It will not work on the clogged pores so don't bother applying it to them. As for the salicylic acid, it is a BHA so its suppose to help exfoliate the skin . During this exfoliation, it purges the pores, that's why you are getting this clogged pores all of a sudden. But once it has finish purging, your pores will clear and no more pimples will come so I suggest you be a little more patient. Wait it out for 2 months before you switch products.

Another good prescription cream is Retin-A which is also a pore purger but its better.

nothing used to work for me either and then my doctor proscribed accutane. It worked over a couple of months. It really is a pain though, you have to get shots every month to make sure your blood levels are ok. i think it might be your best bet though. Or you can go on birth control, seriously. That has been proven to clear up your face (might add weight gain though).
