Hepatitis A Vaccine...How much oes it cost and should i get it!?!
Question: hello, I was just wondering about the hepatitis A vaccine....My mom thinks that i should get it! Is this a vaccine that i Should get....And how much does this vaccine cost? Also My sister is 20 years old and my mom thinks that she should als get it! Do you think that she is to old to get it now or should she get it to!

Hepatitis A can be spread through intimate contact with someone who is infected with it as well through food items prepared by someone who has it. The vaccine use to be recommended only to those traveling to a foreign country where it was prevelent, but it has now become more common for those in the US to receive it. It has become part of the routine childhood immunizations now in most states. It is also recomended that healthcare workers receive the vaccination.
It is a 2 shot series that is usually covered by most health insurance policies. If you have had a physical in the last year, you can probably request just a nurse visit for the shot and it will be cheaper, or free depending on your insurance.
A person of any age can receive benifits from the vaccine, I am 47 and just received the second shot.
Hep A is spread from contaminated shellfish and from the stool of one person to the mouth of another. It isn't necessary to be vaccinated in the Western World. If you are a frequent traveler to less developed countries or ones with inferior sanitation systems, you should definitely consider it. I got it before I went to Thailand.
