Ablation for arrythmia?!

Question: I have been told that I am to have a procedure to stop my arrythmia.I will have an ablation entering through the neck.
Anyone had this and if so has it cured your problems? Was it painful ? Is the associated risk worth the benefits
Thanks

It is called EP study with ablation! Correction...they go into your groin AND your neck. The procedure is about 6 hours long, and requires a nights stay in the hospital.
I have had it done about 8 months ago...and now I am symptom free. It was a little painful, and you are laying flat on your back for 6 + hours, but I tell you what, it was the best thing I ever did. I have not had a problem since I did it.

I had it through my groin in 2005 for wolff parkinson white syndrome its not really painful (just the injection) and a bit of discomfort when they pull the tubes out, i was told very minimal risks and i was home the same day. I went back to work 2 days later but managed to give myself a blood clot so had to have a weeks complete bed rest. The best bit is no more palpitations and no more check ups i am completely cured. The worst is not being able to move for around 5 hours after the operation, very boring in a ward full of very elderly patients (i was 19 at the time). The doctor obv goes through all of the risks at the consultation and on the day of the op but its classed as a very minor opp so its really nothing to worry about.

Had it about 8 years ago everything is fine.

Here is an excellent website with lots of explanation about the ablation procedure. Good luck
