You probably just have a cold. You can use the following:
Vapor RUb
Chloraseptic spray of lozenges
Tylenol (Regular or Extra Strength)
Tylenol Cold & Sinus
Robitussin
Sudafed
Lots of water & using a massager or your cupped hand to vibrate or beat on your chest will help loosen the mucus so you can cough it up
Breathe as deeply as possible & cough, repeat several times, to help move mucus up & out
Vaporizer

Hope you feel better & have that baby soon

Robitussin is the only cough med I know that is safe in pregnancy. Drink a lot of extra water becasue this will thin your secretions and help you to get the mucous out.

You need to call the phone nurse with your doctor's office to see what they recommend. Also, up your fluid intake to help thin out any mucus that may be trapped in your airway, juices and water are the best for this. It will impart fluids into the mucus to help thin it out.

Oh, poor you - I had exactly the same thing late in my pregnancy and it made my bump hurt every time I coughed (I won't mention the weak bladder...) You can only take a simple linctus safely - that's what I was advised in hospital anyway. Obviously, the usual honey and lemon, hot drinks etc can help a little, but also you can try cutting out dairy products as they cause increased mucus production.

Well, yes, it could be a cold or something viral in nature but it could also be related to the increase in the amount of fluids circulating within your body. Not the amniotic (baby bag) fluid, but because your body is circulating blood for two you can start to have problems regulating the overload. Your pain may be caused by sore, overworked muscles in the ribs, stomach, and due to irritation of your throat. Your cough can be caused by accumulation of a small amount of fluid in the bases of your lungs. Some women can go into a congestive heart failure (CHF) during the end stages of pregnancy. It isn't overly common but I surely wouldn't tell you to just take some cough syrup and go to bed.
I would advise that you take your temperature and weigh yourself. Try to see if you have a lot more swelling in your legs and hands. Are your rings tight? Is it hard to make a tight fist? Write this stuff down and then call your doctor's office. There is a doctor on call 24 hours a day. Tell the doctor your concerns about the cough, shortness of breath, along with any thing you haven't told us but you think is odd for you. Have you been urinating the same amounts or less? Is your urine dark yellow in color? Have you been straining to have a bowel movement - more than usual?

I don't see that you've said anything about mucus or phlegm with the cough. This concerns me. CHF causes coughing but no mucus production just fluid in the bottoms of your lungs. Do not take anything a doctor hasn't given you the okay to take. If something were to happen to the baby you would regret it terribly.

Rest peacefully tonight after talking with the doctor.
Don't go to bed with worries for two...

Basically its all babys fault, but due to being pregnant your breathing becomes a lot harder and during the later parts of pregnancy your diaphragm and lungs are sort of pushed up higher, your ribs pushed outwards due to your baby growing, making your lungs work harder, and you become breathless more quicker on exertion. See your midwife , and she'll be able to examine and listen to your chest.
