I think I may have a throat abcess and a middle ear infection...?!

Question: I have a cold at the moment, and have developed the feeling of my left ear having a someone's finger sticking into it. Also, it is incredibly painful for me to swallow, and I can feel a lump on the left side of my throat.
I have told my parents that I need a doctors appointment, and described my symptoms and they laughed at me and said 'we have had everything, it will get better'...I have never felt anything like this before, and I have had numerous colds and sore throats. This is the worst feeling ever!

The best thing ofcourse would be to visit your doctor but I hardly think you have either of the conditions you mentioned above! I would say you have tonsillitis at the most... Middle ear infection is certainly ruled out! So calm down!!k??
& yeah Get well soon! :)

its prob strep throat, that can make your glands swell, as can the cold, and strep can sometimes feel like an ear infection at first

You really do need to see a doctor, and soon. As you probably know, a middle ear infection can lead to significant permanent hearing loss. A throat abcess is nothing to mess with, either. If it does turn out to be a nasty bacterium, it can cause rheumatic fever, which damages the heart valves.
If your parents refuse to help, see the school nurse. SHE'LL shake them down, for sure! There are consequences when parents refuse to get needed medical intervention for their child.
