What is a first degree burn?!

Question: painful

but I guess you knew that, huh?

Well, burns are rated by how much of the skin layer is affected

A first degree burn is a 'superficial' burn. Only the outermost layer of skin is damaged/destroyed. The symptoms are pain and redness, best treated with aspirin, avoiding more sun/heat damage and time.

A second degree burn, or partial thickness burn, destroys the outermost layer, or 'dermis'. It too is painful, and in this case usually has a blister or some kind of skin erosion. This needs to be covered to help protect the area from further damage and to reduce the risk of infection.

A third degree burn, or full thickness, is the worst kind. The outermost layer is completely destroyed, and the underneath areas are exposed. There may or may not be pain [at first]. It is a medical emergency. These must be covered with dry bandages, and the vicitm taken to the nearest hospital.

SLIGHT REDNESS

Reddening of the skin/ Rash.

Basically a sunburn or a rash brought on by touching something really hot.

2nd degree is when the skin itself is burned into and damaged, needing bandages.
3rd is the really bad ones that require plastic surgery and a hospital stay.

A mild burn that produces redness of the skin but no blistering.

It can be the equivilent of a moderate sunburn, generally affecting just the top layers of skin. It still hurts!

It's a burn that just received it's first professional certification.

idk...
...but it sounds like it hurts...a lot...
its probably, like, rugburn or something...

Burns are labeled from 1st to 3rd degree.....third being the worst.....second being bad...1st easily treatable/w minimal scaring
