Question about Afrin (the nasal spray)?!

Question: I just got the Common Cold and have nasal congestion. I went and bought Afrin and its great. However, there is a catch. The box says you cant use it frequently for more than 3 days. My question is, if I use it twice a day (24 hour relief) for 3 days, and then not use it at all for a day or two, can I then use it again for 3 days, twice a day?

Since Afrin is a temporary relief spray. I would ask your doctor /pharmacist if you could become dependent upon it. The pharmacist in my area recommended just saline spray and its only $2.00. It actually worked for me and my child Don't share it of course. If you have sinus problems you may want to inquire about nasonex ( prescribed) . I do know that your symptoms will last a few days, just keep drinking fluids, keep hands clean and washed so you don't transfer "too many' germs.. Just remember to sanitize everything and switch out your toothbrush in a couple of days!

The problem with nasal spray is that you can get rebound effect from it if you use it for any length of time. Rebound feels like the spray isn't helping you for very long and you need to use it more often. I doubt you will get rebound effect just using it for 3 days

I use it usually at bedtime for as longas I need to..I usually feel better after 3 or 4 days so you probably wont need it..Afrin is great isnt it!!!! really clears so you can breathe.
