Far Infrared Sauna

So home school them in a sauna.

Hmm I have never heard of this study. I can not think of a safe way to give someone a fever. A fever is the bodies defense for killing infections. So unless you get someone sick, I cant see how you could manage this.

I think that maybe your perception what improvement is my be flawed or misunderstood. When an autistic child has a fever, they are sick. This "improves" behavior in that they don't have as much energy, thus not as much arm flapping, body rocking, humming, and hyperactivity. When you get sick, do you have less energy? I know I do.

There is some PRELIMINARY research that shows that autistic children make more eye contact when sick, and speak more clearly than normally, however no dramatic improvement is known to exist. I feel that is because of a need to be filled by children when they are sick. Autistic children still want to be cuddled and cared for as do regular children when sick.

Regardless if improvements are made, it is not safe to have a fever. So purposely trying to give someone is an awful idea, please don't do this to an autistic person, especially a child. Leave the research to be done by professionals. Why would you want to raise the temperature of someone's brain in the hopes that you may be able to have a little more eye contact or verbal comprehension? I have included a link to an article by ABC which explains the preliminary research.

And just so you know, there are other methods to help autistic children and people become more focused. Many of the children that I work with are on restricted diets, limiting or eliminating glutens and artificial foods which has proved to help focus and learning ability. Reflexology is something I commonly use with autistic students, which I have found helps concentration and behavioral outbursts. Occupational Therapists are also finding that many activities, some as simple as playing on a swing, or balancing on a beam, can help develop better motor skills and produce more focused individuals. And something that I have found that really works not only with autistic students but with myself, calming music!

Once again, please do not induce a fever. It's not safe, or proven to do aid in the developmental disabilities of autistic people.

I sure would like to see the studies on that. If it's true, it would prove autism is psychogenic. Did you know that ECT works on the principle that a *safe* trauma fools the unconscious mind into thinking it's being killed, so in order to preserve existence it hands control back to the ego which is better equipped to deal with external threats. That's why crazy people get better after electric shock therapy.

If autism is caused by the dominance of a primitive part of the brain, then it too could be cured by fooling it into thinking it's going to die if it doesn't back off.

I don't know how to induce a safe fever though.
