Grandad seriously ill.?!
Question: I dont know the details cos my dad wont tell me much but apparently my grandad has been ill for a while, he started getting pain at the bottom of his back where his bottom is, and had problems going to the toilet, today he rang my dad up at 2:30 AM saying he had really bad stomach ache, then he rang again at 5:00AM, askingh my dad to go over. He's gone over to his house now and apparently my grandad has gone to the doctor at least 20 times, but the doctor says 'it is stress and nothing to worry about'. Grandad has taken urine tests etc, everything is normal, he wanted a camera inserted to look for cancer but the doctor refused, what to do?

my mom had the same problem she had two kidns of cancer before that. only when we demanded a damn ct mri did they find the mass. her 3rd cancer. by that time it was too late. go demand they test him. my mom was given the all clearn from colon cancer in july she died on oct 2 of 07. damn drs. we are going after them now. colonscopies xray nada. make them do a tumor marker test. there is one for colon and pancreatic cancer. this tiem a tumor had god knows why they never caught them we found she had 3 count em 3 big tumors on and around her pancrease, and main artery.

Do not settle for that! My g/dad wa the same and it turned out he had cancer and because the doctors were late in diagnosis they could not do anything for him. GET A DIFFERENT DOCTOR, i hope your g/dadgets well soon
If the doctor doesn't think he needs this invasive treatment/test, then he doesn't. The option is going to another but, unfamiliar doctor or a specialist.
My guess from what you said is he has IBS (irritable bowl syndrome) which, can lead to cancer but, there are symptoms that your grandfather may not have the doctor sees and, is not worried.
IBS can be very debilitating and painful. He may have infected polyps and they're creating problems, of which is his diet.
Drinking alcohol, hot foods or spicy foods will create problems for him. Try Metamucil for roughage and, a change in diet.
When poeple get old sometimes our bodies pay the price for what we have done to it in the past like bad diet etc.he probally just ate somthing that disagreed with him.when we get old we go to the doctors allot.just say a prayer.everything will be fine
He has got to find a different doctor. I mean, it could be anything and maybe it could be something they could cure with medication or surgery, and even if it does turn out to be cancer they can give him pain medicine that will help him. Not knowing is the hardest part of this question. If he has been sick for a while now, surely he knows his current doctor isn't helping him in the way he needs to be helped. Encourage him to see another doctor so that he can at least be diagnossed.
Hannah, I'm not a doctor. But I don't think you should worry too much yet. You said you don't know all the details. Well, pain near ur bottom could be haemorroids and stomach cramps could be caused by constipation. I'm not saying your grandad has these things, but you should be aware there are lots of reasons people feel pain or discomfort...its not always cancer. Also, some people are private and don't want to tell you about their embarrassing ailments.
But if your grandad and family feel he's not getting proper treatment from his doctor - then get a second opinion from another one.

No it is not cancer. If it is rectal cancer or anal cancer or any where in GI tract ten blleding will appear and your doctor is telling due to stress. so i think it may be piles or prolapse or prostatic problem etc. do the dignmosis. no need to worry. its not dengerous. I m a doc, thats why telling confidently
I cannot imagine any doctor not wanting let alone refusing to do a colonoscopy in a case like this. I see cancer cases all day long and this does not make sense. Did you get this information from your dad? If so maybe you should speak to your grandfather yourself. I would go to another doctor right away if it is true.
