You will want to avoid highly acidic foods such as citrus juices or tomato based food products (eg. spaghetti, pizza). You should also avoid alcohol & smoking, caffeine, and any spicy/highly seasoned foods.

Try eating smaller more frequent meals (or snacks) rather than the typical 3 large meals a day.

One of the many times my husband was hospitalized for gastritis he was told to follow the BRAT diet -- Bananas, Rice, Apple Sauce, and Toast (dry). Also recommended was herbal tea. An herbalist we have visited also recommends some lightly steamed veggies -- zucchini, spinach, and green beans seem to work well for him tossed with a small bit of ground chicken or turkey for protein. One normally healthy veggie to avoid with gastritis, though is broccoli. We have certainly found an increase in symptoms when he eats broccoli and this study (http://www.cababstractsplus.org/google/a... in Japan shows an increase in chronic gastritis among men who regularly eat broccoli.

Hope this helps!

O-o-oh....That gastritis hurts...I was hospitalized with that before and had to have my stomach pumped brcause of it. They told me to stay away from fried foods, any kind of lunch meat....to stick with bland foods. Be careful of dairy products..they will kick it up. Try eating carrots, mashed potatoes, and a little meat that doesn't have any fat on it . Any thing bland that's not junk food. Hope you feel better ! It takes awile to get over that .

MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT PREGNANT, IF NOT A HOT CUP OF PLAIN TEA, OR HOT MILK OR MINT TEA.

First off. stop eating foods. Take sips of H2O, unsalted crackers and breads/grain products. Your stomach and vomiting is telling you to stop ingesting foods! since I work in the GI area...here are some simple ideas for gastritis.
Avoid: spicy foods (pepper-salsa-grease, etc), fast foods with sodium and fat, canned foods (salt & sugars), sodas-coffee (decaf-okay)-junk foods, stop smoking, and any foods which cause gassy/bloated feeling (cabbage).
Do's: Eat at least 4-6 hours prior to your bedtime, no late snacks prior to bedtime, raise your head with 2-3 pillows or head of bed with blocks at bottom of bed posts, eat smaller frequent meals instead of 3 large meals each day, snack on fresh veggies/fruits-no junk foods. Good luck...if condition persists, go see GI doc and get scoped! Something might be going on! :O)

avoid anything fried or high fat foods stick to good food fruit veg and bran good luck
