What are the first signs of pneumonia?!

Question: I was with someone who had pneumonia in its early stage- i heard thats when it is contagious

well its a little over 24 hours later...

I have really bad chills
I horrible sore throat
a small cough (in my throat not lungs)
it hurt to take deep breaths
and body aches

my immune system now sucks due to lack of sleep and good food- but it has been months since i have even had a cold. I do not have the flu vaccination...what do you think? pneumonia? flu? cold? any ideas?

You're right - this COULD be pneumonia. Have you seen a doctor about it?

The flu vaccine works against the Influenza virus (not the bacteria that cause pneumonia).

You should take some pain relief - panadol or something similar. See a doctor. There are a number of other things that it could be apart from pneumonia, but from the story you have told us Pneumonia has to be the most likely suspect.

persistant cough after dealing with all those other symptoms cant breath well , had it, kids had it hospitalized if you dont get well go to emergency

People with infectious pneumonia often have a cough producing greenish or yellow sputum, or phlegm and a high fever that may be accompanied by shaking chills. Shortness of breath is also common, as is pleuritic chest pain, a sharp or stabbing pain, either felt or worse during deep breaths or coughs. People with pneumonia may cough up blood, experience headaches, or develop sweaty and clammy skin. Other possible symptoms are loss of appetite, fatigue, blueness of the skin, nausea, vomiting, mood swings, and joint pains or muscle aches. Less common forms of pneumonia can cause other symptoms; for instance, pneumonia caused by Legionella may cause abdominal pain and diarrhea, while pneumonia caused by tuberculosis or Pneumocystis may cause only weight loss and night sweats. In elderly people manifestations of pneumonia may not be typical. They may develop a new or worsening confusion or may experience unsteadiness, leading to falls. Infants with pneumonia may have many of the symptoms above, but in many cases they are simply sleepy or have a decreased appetite.

edit: once you are sure that you have it, go to your docs and get an antibiotic shot. that should get you better within a few days.
