Question: how does your body deal with it? im talking about, say, inhaling a piece of food that isnt big enough to become lodged in the trachea, so you pull it into your lungs. how do the lungs process it?

If you swalloed anything, like food, the first response of the body is to cough, but if that foreign object falls down to your lung well, you might be in danger.
The lungs is very delicate, and it is 'sterile'.even a single dot of food is delicate, you might have an Atelectasis or lung collapse...

rarely the foreign body is coughed out by the patient.
