Does fever ALWAYS accompany strep throat?!

Question: My throat is very sore but this time, what is making it different from a regular sore throat, is that the front of my neck hurts when I hold my head back (like the throat is swollen). I do NOT have a fever - my question is, does fever ALWAYS accompany strep throat? Thanks everyone!

I can tell you from personal experience that fever does not always accompany strep throat. Best way to check is to have someone look at your throat -- if they see white spots on or near your tonsils, that's a dead giveaway that you have strep throat.

there are always certain cases in which the symptoms don't match up. your soar throat, however could be the result of the cold weather or sleeping with your mouth open. it is very likely you have strep throat.

In every case of confirmed strep throat I have ever had, yes. A fever of over 102 is always present. Although sometimes only one side of the troat is effected.

No, you don't always have fever. Look in your throat for white or red dots. My daughter had strep and only had red dots in her throat. If you throat is that sore go have a Dr. look at it. Strep moves very fast so it is best not to wait if you suspect that it is strep.
