I'm quiting smoking, CHANTIX or NICORETTE....what do you recommend?!

Question: and why? did you have any side effects from either one?

Answers: and why? did you have any side effects from either one?

Chantix, while it may have side effects, one is weird dreams. But the plus out weighs the bad, you do quit smoking.

nicorette gave me horrible heartburn and frequent bouts of hiccoughs. It also made my heart race, didn't work for me at all, obviously.
Chantix primary side effect was strange dreams, but it did block the effect of the nicotine, made the cigarettes taste like crap, and I quit successfully using it, it took me about four months.

Either will be worth a try! However, I found that "cold-turkey" works the best....use flavored toothpicks to suck on and clean your teeth also! Don't laugh it works! Also sugar free gum or hard sugar free candy also helps! :O)

Chantix definitely-it actually interrupts the pleasure your body feels from smoking. Lots of my patients and one of my best friends have quit using this drug, most after many trials of Nicorette and cold turkey.
One of the best things about Chantix is that there are no side effects if you continue to smoke-it allows you to slowly wean yourself from your addiction instead of replacing it or cutting it out altogether and causing dangerous side effects. Most people have nightmares on it and if that's the worst secondary reaction, it's very minor.
I applaud you for deciding to quit-it's a major decision and one that can literally save your life. Congratulations and good luck!
