Why does low blood pressure cause fainting?!


Question: I fainted the other day but in the car.

I wasn't driving thank god. I was with my mom on the way to the vet for my dog!

Not enough blood pumping to keep you awake. You need to watch that one, that is serious.

cause the brain needs to be perfused with oxygen (carried by the blood) at all times and within a certain pressure range.
If your bp drops for whatever reason ( often on standing up or standing for along time) you may feel dizzy or even faint
Its pretty common (esp in young people) but get it checked out if it happens again soon

blood carries oxygen to the brain. With low pressure you won't get enough oxygen and shut down for a spell. A good indication of not getting enough oxygen is yawning alot when you are not tired.
