Home remedies for Sinus Infection?!

Question: Ive been to the doctor countless times and had antibiotics, only for it to return and frankly, im getting a little sick of it - im not a big fan of taking heaps of antibiotics to start with, so does anyone have any ideas? Ive heard of usning a nasal bidet or something, and flushing with salty water - is this effective? And how do i do that using stuff at home? Thanks for any help!

You should try using a netti pot, it looks like a little tea pot and you can get it at any drug store. It comes with little packet of saline solution that you mix with warm water.

You then tilt your head and pouring the water solution through one nostril it goes up into your sinuses and comes out the other nostril, then you switch. I do a 1/2 pot for each side, and when you first start use a 1/2 packet. It is very easy to use.

I did this when I had a very bad cold, along with a caugh. I tend to like home remedies. Took my vitamins, and also took echinashia goldenseal promotes immune function. This really worked for me. You have to be consistant though with the netti pot, it feels weird but it is also kind of neat in how it works. It will clear out your sinuses, and if you have allergies it will clear out allergens.

try steam inhalations twice daily and saline[.9%]irrigations of nose.

You can buy saline solution for your nose, A brand called 4 way has menthol in it, Only use it for 3 days before you get rebound effect, Use it again after 2 days. Get a nasal decongestant. Instead of antibiotics, use echinacea. It is found where vitamins are sold. Have hot soup and tea. Breath steam. Antibiotics do not work for sinus infections.

I hope you feel better, Linda

I find sniffing salty water from the palm of my hand helps; also
a hot shower, with the hot water running over my face.

http://www.unimedprod.com/ It's about 15 bucks at walgreens

I get sinus infections about once a month and that's what the ENT recommended for me. It takes a little while to get used to it. The first time I used it I felt like I was drowning and I couldn't stop coughing, but now 3 years later, it's still uncomfortable but its bearable and it really does work.

Just make sure you mix the water and the solution just right and the water is warm but not hot. If the solution isn't mixed right it BURNS bad, and the same thing if the water is to hot or to cold.
