Question about strep throat?!

Question: Ive never had strep throat, but i just found out yesterday one of co-workers has it plus shes been coughing everywhere.

well this morning i woke up with a horrible sore throat and a cough myself.

Ive heard strep throat hurts really bad. but my sore throat hurts bad, but its not killing me. and if I eat something it sooths it a little bit but then the pain will come back.

i really have no energy to go to the doctor but if i have strep then i'll have to. do you think I just have a common cold or strep? can you have strep with a cough?

Stop beeootcchin. lol you will be OKAY!!!!!!!! ok? This is my lil sis btw

If you have strepth, and it sounds like you do, your throat will hurt worse and worse until you go to the Doctor and get antibiotics for it (Penicilin). That's it. Strepth throat will not go away. It's really the only thing I will go to a Doctor for, because it's absolutely necessary. Can you have strepth with a cough? Sure. Your hurting/burning throat will let you know if you have it or not, though. Good luck.

Strep is very contagious and she probably shouldn't have been at work. Look in the mirror stick your tongue out.... if there is a white coating on your tongue or there seems to be little blister like spots in the back of your throat go to the doc. If not wait it out a couple of days and see how you feel.

The best way to find out if you have strep is to shine a flashlight in your mouth and see if you have any white patches on your throat. Thats a clear indication you've got it.

You may want to check for a few days cause sometimes it has a slow onset. You'll know if you get it though you'll have a fever and just feel plain yucky.

I'm not a doctor yet so I cannot really tell you for sure. And even if I was already a medical professional, I'd need a smear in order to tell for sure. Bottom line is, if you hang around your coworker a lot and she hasn't been on antibiotics for a proper amount of time, odds are, it's strep. So, if I were you I'd go to a doctor and get that checked out. And, speaking as someone who gets strep at least once a year, the pain in the throat may be quite mild and it definitely can be accompanied by a cough.

The link in my source should help you out. It answers questions like: "What is strep throat and why is it different?" and "When should I seek medical care for a sore throat?"
feel better :]

if you develop a fever, immediately go to the doctor. It's quick, you just have to see a nurse for a quick throat swab and they call you back shortly with the results. If it's strep they'll call you in an antibiotic to pick up and then get in bed!
