Essentially, a thrust "infection" is simply an overgrowth of yeast that is always present anyway. It is very persistent and, unless the Canestin is applied to every place that has thrush (inside and out) it will just keep spreading. Some things that make it more persistent: the birth control pill, sexual activity, diet high in sugar and/or caffeine, diet high in yeast-containing products like bread, poor hygiene, poor air circulation.

To combat thrush:
(1) wash morning and night with a clean wash cloth (don't reuse them until they've been thoroughly washed) and use plain soap (no deodorant or special types)
(2) wear skirts and no panties or pantyhose - let the air circulate (sleep that way too)
(3) wash panties in hot water and touch the crotch area briefly with a hot iron to kill any yeast that may be on them
(4) wear cotton and not synthetic panties (air circulation again)
(5) avoid scented products
(6) see your doctor about treatment

In my opinion, Diflucan is a wonder drug. The creams and ovules don't work for me. Go back to the doctor and tell him/her that the thrush has not cleared up.

BTW, the pill is notorious for prolonging thrush.

It always helps to get a few opinions, try going to different doctors. Good luck!

She should go back to the doctor, re-explain everything including the smell and blood, she probably need antibiotics.

Maybe she should go to the sexual health clinic at your local hospital. They normally have open clinics - check with your local health authority.

Thrush is one of those things that can keep recurring particularly if she is sexually active. Both partners need treatment at the same time. I don't recommend canestan to be honest - diflucan one or a generic equivulent is much more effective. She needs to drink plenty of water too and avoid spicy food, booze etc etc.

Tell her to make an appointment with the GUM clinic, it could still be thrush though, there are a few different strains, she just may need to take some tablets and wellas the cream.. the blood could be from her scratching, try live natural yoghurt until the app.

Tell herr to ask the doctor to do a swab.
They will scrape some cells from the cervix and send them off to be tested.
Then any infections will show up and she can be treated accordingly.
It may well be bacterial vaginosis which is extremely common.

Ring NHS direct on 0845 46 47. They can give you all sorts of information. just tell them what has happened so far.

If she is having sex with the same person then it is possible that her partner has it as well and is reinfecting her. they both need to medicate even though he may not have any symptoms at all.

Yeast infections. A naturally occurring fungus called Candida albicans usually causes this type of vaginitis. An estimated three out of four women will have a yeast infection in their lifetime.
Treatment: Antibiotics - Diflucan 150 mg one single dose .
