My mom is allergic to pretty much anything and everything, while I have no allergies. My mom's allergies haven't been as bad since we've gotten dogs that stay inside rather then outside dogs.

We all have horrible death-sinuses though X_X I want to know where that comes from more the anything.. so I can kill it dead.

Being exposed to allergens and some germs is actually good for your immune system to help it fight off the stronger ones.

people had things, they just weren't diagnosed

Some if it is down to diagnosis, especially with ADD. What was previously regarded as simply bad behaviour is now diagnosed as a disorder. This is partly because there is now something that can be done about it - there was no point diagnosing ADD before you could do anything about it.

Allergies do seem to be getting more common, even apart from diagnosis issues, and nobody knows why. One theory is that we are too clean these days and our immune systems don't get enough exercise when we are kids, so they over-react to the wrong things and cause allergies. Kids growing up in houses with multiple pets are less likely to get allergies, which offers some support for this. Another theory is that it's down to some chemical or pesticide in the environment now.

More people have allergies due to the obsession with cleanliness. They have not had a chance to build up their immune systems. No allergies in my house. We have always had several pets.

ADD? Because everyone wants kids to sit down and shut up. For some kids it's impossible to sit and work. Back in the day those kids were put to use doing physical work which is more suited to their personality. I have a son like that. He would much rather build a fire in our fire place than sit and read about how to make a fire.

add/adhd ISN'T just 'bad behaviour' - very specific areas of the brains' functioning are involved and there are specific tests that can be done in order to identify it. My son has been diagnosed with adhd and it certainly isn't something that can be prevented, ignored, or beaten out of him.
